I often find myself turning to music both when times are tough as well as during joyful moments. During the last several months especially, I have found music to be a great unifier, a constant source of comfort for many and a way to feel closeness even as we are physically distant from each other.
As many of you know, an artist that I have a special connection to is the great James Taylor. Ever since first hearing Fire and Rain, I was hooked on his music. However, after, learning of the things we share in common as storytellers who experienced hardship at a young age deepened the connection I felt to his music and has brought me a great deal of solace over the years.
Because of this, I was thrilled to learn of his newest piece of work, an audio memoir titled Break Shot. The memoir has so far received glowing reviews and has been an extremely enjoyable listen for me personally. Hearing James tell vulnerable stories about how his personal life influenced his work made me think of my own work and how we both recognize the importance of storytelling. Over the next few weeks, I’m excited to share more with you about my life and the many ways in which his music has inspired me.
Until then, I encourage you to check out Break Shot, which is available on Audible. Listen to James describe his audio memoir here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63TGNSGxg14
