With the pending release of my new book Your Turn: Ways to Celebrate Life Through Storytelling (available Oct. 1), I wanted to preview upcoming speaking events I have scheduled in Texas and Illinois!
On Friday, October 18, I will be visiting the Twig Bookstore at the Pearl Brewery in San Antonio. The presentation will also include remarks from my good friend, and author, Karen Keilt, who will discuss her incredible book, The Parrot’s Perch.
Later in October, Karen and I will travel to the western suburbs of Chicago to share our stories in several venues (more information to come soon!) I am so appreciative of this opportunity and cannot wait to share more specific information on the events in the weeks to come.
In the meantime, I am having a ball training my new best friend, Yogi, a Labrador Retriever and Beagle mix. He’s been a worthy companion for me, and he has an incredible personality and disposition.
I took him in from a rancher a couple of months ago. At the time, Yogi was relatively isolated and content with just sitting inside. Since adopting him, I’ve learned he is such a sweet boy and loves playing fetch in the back yard, hide-and-go-seek, and squeaking his rubber bone.
Yogi is sweet, kind and playful but careful not to be too rough. He seems to realize his 52 pounds could inadvertently topple me over if he’s chasing the ball in a game of throw and fetch.
Even better yet, when I first took Yogi in, I was told he had heartworm. But on our most recent visit to the veterinarian, he showed no signs of heartworm now! Of course, we will keep an eye on Yogi’s health and make sure he stays healthy and happy!
I can’t wait to share more photos and stories of Yogi in the coming months!
What kinds of pet companions do you have? And how do animals bring joy to your life?
